Beyond Business

Transcending the conventional boundaries of business, the Aditya Birla Group is actively engaged in meaningful welfare driven initiatives. These make a qualitative difference to the lives of the weaker sections of society. The Group works in 3,000 villages. It reaches out to 7 million people annually through the Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development, which is spearheaded by Mrs. Rajashree Birla.

Its focus areas are – healthcare, education, fostering the girl child, sustainable livelihood, women empowerment projects, infrastructure and social reform. Its humanitarian work spans 20 countries, in which it operates.

In line with our parent Company, we at ABY™ reach out to the underserved communities in our own small way. We have partnered with The Jimmy and Rosalene Carter Habitat Foundation in Thailand, supporting the homeless and the poor in fulfilling their dreams of owning homes. Even as ABY™ contributed financially, more importantly, our employees lent a helping hand in the building of these homes.

In Thailand, the Group has also set up the Aditya Birla Knowledge Centre at Saraburi, providing vocational training to the Thai youngsters. Since its inception over a year ago, more than 300 youngsters have graduated in specific skills from the Centre.

In the Philippines, we have set up the Mahaveer Philippines Foundation Inc. A non-profit organization, it is dedicated to providing free prosthesis to Filipino amputees. This helps them become self-reliant. In turn they regain their self-respect and begin to live a life of dignity. With three centres in the Philippines, we have been able to reach out to more than 6,000 beneficiaries from the marginalized segments of society.

In recognition of our services, the Philippines Government awarded the Mahaveer Foundation the Congressional Commendation for humanitarian work.

The philosophy of caring and giving is embedded in the Group’s DNA, regardless of geographies.
